DAE watch their car shipping quote creep up $340 and not notice till it was too late?
So I got a quote back in April to move my wife's Corolla from Phoenix to Portland, and the guy on the phone said $780 and it felt fair so I just sat on it for a few weeks while we sorted out our lease dates. Called back to lock it in and suddenly it was $1,120. I asked what changed and he mumbled something about fuel and driver availability, then said the original number was only good for 7 days which nobody ever told me. That $340 jump is basically a full month of my car payment and it stung bad. I get that rates move, but the whole thing felt like a shell game where the clock works against you. Now I'm second guessing every broker I call because I don't know if the quote is real or just bait. What's the longest you've sat on a quote before it went up, and did you end up just eating the higher number?
