Torque wrench calibration saved my rear axle job in Tulsa

I was wrestling with a stubborn rear hub nut on a 2012 F-150 and my old clicker was way off, stripped the threads clean at 300 ft-lbs. Took it to a calibration shop in Tulsa, cost me $65 and they found it was 18% out of spec. Snapped a new nut on with the recalibrated wrench and it torqued like butter, no drama. Any of y'all check your torque wrenches yearly, or is that just me being paranoid now?

Man, that’s a smart catch on your part. Same thing happened to me last year with my beam-style wrench, it was off by like 10 percent and I had no clue until I checked it. Ever since then I just take it in every spring, costs less than a new axle and saves the headache.
