Rant: Swapped a timing chain kit and the tensioner failed at 200 miles

Tbh I used a cheaper aftermarket tensioner on a 2014 Ford 3.5 and it let go on the highway last week. Anyone else had luck with one brand over another, or should I just eat the cost of OEM next time?

Did you torque it to spec and use a new bolt? A bad tensioner is one thing, but install errors get blamed all the time. That said, OEM is the only way I go now, cheap parts just aren't worth the tow bill.
