Rant: My 8-year-old nephew just schooled me on torque specs
I was over at my sister's place for a BBQ last weekend, and my nephew was showing me his new Lego Technic crane truck. He's putting it together and gets to this part where you have to use the little wrench tool. He looks up at me, dead serious, and says, 'Uncle Gray, you have to turn it until it clicks. If you don't click it, it's too loose and falls apart. If you keep turning after the click, you strip the plastic.' I just stood there for a second. This kid, who can't even tie his shoes tight, just perfectly described the feel of hitting a torque spec on a lug nut. I've been doing this for twelve years, and I realized I sometimes rush that final pull on the wrench, especially on a long day. Hearing it from a Lego manual somehow made it click in my head, pun intended. Anyone else have a moment where something totally simple made you rethink a basic habit?
