Ditched my torque wrench for a click type, still hate trusting it
I always preached beam style wrenches because the needle never lied, watched a coworker strip a head bolt with a cheap click type last month, then my own beam wrench failed a calibration check after 12 years on the floor so which side are you on?
Switched to click type last year after my beam wrench cost me a whole Saturday redoing a timing cover because I second guessed the needle the whole time. Then two weeks later I go and snap a valve cover bolt with the click type because I was too lazy to dial it down from 80 ft-lbs. So basically I proved I can mess up with both styles equally well. Honestly the real fix was just slowing down and actually reading the spec instead of blaming the tool. Still keep the old beam wrench hanging on the wall like a trophy though.
