Vent: A customer in Boise tried to pay me for a bumper repair with a literal bucket of quarters.

It took me and two other guys 45 minutes to count it all, and now I have a strict 'no loose coin' policy posted right next to my estimate forms.

Switched to a coin counting machine after a similar mess. Honestly, it saves so much time and hassle on the rare times it happens. Tbh the policy sign is a good move too.

Yeah, and like @taylorc40 said, it's all those little frictions getting smoothed out. The policy sign just makes it clear we've fully given up on the human moment for pure speed. Honestly, it's a trade-off we barely even notice anymore.

The hardware store near me put in one of those coin machines about six months ago. It feels like we're slowly automating away every tiny friction point in daily life, even the simple act of counting change. I get the convenience, but it's a little sad when the default solution is another machine instead of just a bit of patience. The policy sign is just the logical next step, making the new normal official.
