The day a customer brought in a car with a squirrel's nest in the quarter panel
Last Tuesday in our Akron shop, a guy named Dave rolls in with his old Ford Ranger, complaining about a 'rustling noise' when he turns left. We pull the inner liner on the rear passenger side and find a whole family of squirrels, along with about 8 pounds of acorns and shredded insulation. The whole shop smelled like a forest for hours. Anyone else ever had a wildlife situation delay a repair?

That dryer sheet trick @eric_knight7 mentioned never worked for me, the animals just tore them up. I've found sealing up the entry point with steel wool and mesh is the only real fix, otherwise they just come right back.

Ever try the dryer sheet trick? Stuff a couple fresh ones in the cavity after you clear it out, seems to keep the critters from moving back in. We had a Civic with a mouse problem that kept coming back until we did that. Just make sure you get all the food out first, or they'll just chew through anything to get back to it.

Heard about a buddy who had a raccoon get into a customer's engine bay and shred the sound deadening material to make a bed. The thing had pulled in fast food wrappers and everything. They had to pressure wash the whole underside and replace a bunch of wiring it chewed through. Took them two extra days just to get the smell out.
