That one customer who watched me buff for an hour
Had a guy come in last year with a 98 Civic he'd had since high school. Wanted me to wet sand and buff a single scratch on the quarter panel. He stood there the whole time, maybe 50 minutes, just watching. Didn't say a word, just watched. When I finished he said 'that's the most satisfying thing I've seen since my kids were born.' Paid cash and left. Anyone else get customers who are just weirdly into the process?

Wait, he watched you wet sand for almost an hour and didn't say anything until the end? That's kind of intense.

Oh man, I had this older guy come in with a 2003 Ford Ranger that was COVERED in pinstriping from driving through a car wash with a stuck brush. He asked me to do just ONE panel to see if it would even help. I spent like 45 minutes on the passenger door wet sanding and buffing. He stood right behind me the whole time breathing heavy. When I finished he goes "that's like watching a tattoo artist fix a mistake." Then he paid for the whole job all at once. Some people just really dig the process I guess.

Wait @drewgonzalez, the guy was BREATHING HEAVY behind you the whole time? Dude I would've cracked. That's like a whole different level of intense. I had a lady once watch me stitch a rip in a leather chair for like two hours and she kept sighing really loud every time I messed up a stitch. But heavy breathing? That's serial killer behavior right there. I would've had to ask if he needed a glass of water or something just to break the tension.
