Spent $400 on a used spray booth filter. Biggest mistake of my year.
I thought I was being smart saving money buying a used filter off a guy on Facebook Marketplace. He said it was barely used and still had life left. Got it home and it was basically clogged with old paint dust after just 2 jobs. My compressor was working overtime and my finish came out looking like crap. Had to spend another $300 on a new proper filter from the supplier anyway. Anyone else get burned trying to cheap out on booth supplies?

Yeah I bought a used filter once too. Never again. Now I just bite the bullet and buy new ones from the start.

My buddy Mike bought a used water filter off Craigslist and spent a whole weekend trying to clean all the gunk out of it. Turns out the thing had been sitting in someone's garage for like three years and was totally clogged with mold. He ended up throwing it out and buying new anyway, so he just wasted his time and twenty bucks.

Man, that's such a bummer for Mike. Reminds me of the time I bought a "gently used" espresso machine off Facebook Marketplace. Looked fine in the pics, but when I got it home, the inside was caked with old coffee grounds that had basically turned into concrete. Spent like four hours with a toothpick and vinegar trying to scrape it all out, only to find the heating element was busted anyway. Ended up using the thing as a plant stand, so at least I got some use out of it, I guess. You ever have something you bought used just totally backfire like that?
