I finally tried that rust converter gel on a quarter panel job
The customer's 2008 Civic had surface rust along the wheel arch, and the gel turned it black like it should. But when I went to prime over it two days later, the primer just beaded up and wouldn't stick. I had to sand the whole area back down to bare metal, which added an extra hour. Has anyone else had this happen with a converter product, and what primer did you end up using over it?

My dad's old truck taught me that stuff always leaves a film, lol. It's like when you wax a car and then rain just slides right off.

Did you wash the area with soap and water after it cured? That gel leaves a residue that can cause adhesion problems.

Actually I never wash it off and my stuff sticks fine. Maybe it depends on the brand?
