Choosing between a full quarter panel or just a patch on this '18 Civic's rear arch

I went with the patch to save the customer $800, but blending the factory silver tri-coat took me almost 3 hours longer than a full panel would have.

Read somewhere that blending tri-coat can eat up any savings from a patch job.

Blending tri-coat is the expensive part, not the patch itself.

Got a tiny scratch on my pearl white bumper last year, barely an inch. The quote to fix just that spot was insane because they said they'd have to blend the whole panel and maybe the door next to it. Ended up just touching it up myself because the cost was basically a full respray.
