A customer in my shop pointed out my masking tape lines were always a bit wavy, and it made me rethink my whole prep routine.

Yeah, staring at your own tape jobs for weeks... that's the real kicker. I had a client point out my caulk lines were a bit messy once and it got in my head. What finally helped was just changing where I stood when I put the tape down. I was always reaching across my body before, and that tiny angle made everything off. Now I make sure I'm square to the wall, and it's way straighter. Sometimes you just need that outside eye to spot the little habit you never noticed.

Wait, they said your lines were "always" wavy? That's a pretty bold call from a customer just watching you work. I'd be staring at my own tape jobs for weeks after that... wondering if I've been blind to it.

Honestly the "always" part is what gets me. Like, one wavy line, okay maybe I had a bad day. But to say it's always like that? That's a personal attack on your whole skill set. I'd be replaying every single tape line I've ever done in my head, it would drive me crazy. I mean, who says that to someone's face while they're working?
