Went from a DSLR and 20 pounds of gear to just my phone on a tripod, and my moon shots got better
For about 4 years I was hauling my Canon 60D and a 300mm lens up to the ridge behind my place near Flagstaff, and half the time I came home with blurry garbage because the tripod would shake or I'd bump the focus ring. Back in March I tried just holding my phone up to my old 8 inch dob eyepiece, and the shot of the crescent moon came out sharper than anything I ever got with the camera rig. Now I keep a cheap phone mount on the scope and leave the DSLR in the bag, which means I actually take it out more often instead of dreading the setup. Anyone else find that simpler gear got them out under the sky way more, or am I just lazy now?

Kept my DSLR in the bag for the same reason. Setup dread kills more sky time than clouds do.
Phone on a cheap mount is plenty sharp and I actually shoot now instead of skipping it.
