Warning: You can speak up in Ask Anything, 90% of you just don't

I have been reading this community for about 8 months now and I keep seeing the same thing over and over. Someone asks a simple question like how to deal with a noisy neighbor or what to do about a weird charge on their card, and they get 40 replies. But the person who asked never comes back to say what worked. Last Tuesday a guy asked about a $600 dental bill that showed up out of nowhere, got a ton of good advice, and then vanished. I know because I checked his profile and he has not posted since. Here is the thing that bugs me. When nobody reports back, the rest of us are just guessing in the dark, and the same questions get asked again 3 weeks later. I started replying to my own threads with a simple update, even if the update is 'that did not work,' and it takes 10 seconds. I am not saying you owe anyone a full writeup. I am saying this place only works if people close the loop. Has anyone else noticed a question they answered months ago that never got a follow up?
