Lost $75 on a storage unit auction gamble in Reno last month

I bid on a small locker thinking the dusty tool chest inside might be worth something, but it was all rusty hand tools and a broken shop vacuum. Drove 40 minutes each way to haul out junk I ended up paying to dispose of. Has anyone else learned the hard way that these auctions are mostly overpriced mystery boxes?
