That single pot sherd" really got me too... I used to think archaeology was just about digging up big things like bones or statues. Seeing how one tiny broken piece of pottery could tell you so much about the people who made it really opened my eyes. Now I get why those little finds can be the most important ones.

Right, exactly... it's like those little pieces hold so much more than you'd think. I never paid attention to the small stuff either until a friend showed me a pot sherd from an old site and walked me through what the style and shape meant about the people who made it... totally blew my mind.
