A farmer in Ohio made me rethink how we date pottery shards
He said the broken plate he plowed up looked just like ones his grandma used for 40 years, not some ancient relic. Made 3 of my textbook identifications feel shaky in about 5 minutes. Anyone else have a local blow up their whole dating system?

Start by checking museum collections near that farm before trusting anything else.

Had a buddy who did this with some arrowheads he found on his uncle's property. Took them to a local museum and turns out they were just old farm tools, not Native American artifacts at all. Saved him from making a fool of himself on eBay though lol.
