Took me 5 hours and two trips into town to figure out why my climbing line kept snagging on one stupid oak
Had a removal on a big red oak out in Berwyn last Tuesday and my climbing line kept catching on something up in the canopy, so I'd climb up, fight it loose, climb down, and repeat. I figured it was a bark inclusion or a stub I missed on the walk-around, so I re-inspected twice and found nothing, burning almost 2 hours just staring up at the thing. Turns out a tiny old cable eye from some tree house job 15 years back was buried in the crotch, and I only spotted it when the sun hit it at the right angle on my third climb. Whole job should've been 3 hours and it ate my entire morning. What's the weirdest hidden junk you've found grown into a tree?
