The rewatch difference after my sister pointed out the filler arcs

I started One Piece back in 2018 and dropped it at episode 400 because it felt like nothing was happening. This month I picked up the manga instead and the pacing difference is insane, fights that took 5 episodes now take 2 panels. Has anyone else switched formats mid-series and suddenly understood the hype?
