Dub vs sub debate got backwards after I watched Frieren twice

I used to defend subs hard. Thought dubs were for casuals. Then I rewatched Frieren last month, dub version this time. The timing and emotion hit different. Fern's voice actress nailed the quiet anger scenes. Went back to the sub after and now it feels flat to me. Am I the only one who flipped sides after giving the dub a real shot, or is there a specific show that changed your stance?
