Gave $40 for a bulk lot of expired film and got nothing usable
Found a seller on Facebook marketplace offering 20 rolls of assorted 35mm film for $40, claimed they were stored cool and dark. Every single roll came out with heavy fogging and color shifts, even the ones I shot at box speed. Anyone else get burned on 'stored properly' expired film deals?

$40 for 20 rolls is still a gamble that sometimes pays off. Bought a lot of 15 rolls of Fuji Superia 400 that were supposedly frozen, shot them at box speed and they came out looking like muddy soup. But then a different lot of cheap Kodak Gold 200 from the same seller was totally fine with just a little blue shift. Storage claims are always a roll of the dice, you win some you lose some.

Had a buddy who bought a bulk lot of expired Portra 160 from an online seller. Guy said it was cold stored the whole time. My friend shot three rolls at a family reunion, the whole thing looked like someone poured coffee on it. Grainy, weird colors, just bad. But then he shot the rest of the rolls at a local park a month later and they turned out perfect, clear and sharp. You just never know what you're getting until you develop it.
