Serious question, do you hand sand your spoons or break out the power sander?

I've been carving cherry spoons in my garage in Boise for about 8 months now and hit a fork in the road with sanding. Side A says hand sanding from 150 up to 400 grit keeps the edges crisp and it's the only way to really feel the wood, side B says a random orbital sander with a soft pad saves your wrists and gets you 90% there in a quarter of the time. I tried the power sander on a batch of 6 walnut spoons and one of them got a weird flat spot near the bowl that I couldn't fix. So which camp are you in, and did a shortcut ever wreck a piece you actually cared about?
