PSA: rub a pencil on your squeaky drawer rails, not wax
Last month we moved into a 1950s rental in Boise and every drawer in the kitchen squealed so loud it woke the baby. I tried candle wax first and it gummed up with dust in about a week. Then my neighbor Dot, who is 78 and fixes everything in her house herself, handed me a plain #2 pencil and said to rub the graphite hard on both rails. Two minutes per drawer and three weeks later, not a peep, and no sticky mess to clean up. Has anyone tried this on sliding closet doors or is it too soft for that kind of weight?
