My sister watched me tie a fly and said my thread wraps looked like a bird nest, so I started wrapping slower
I've been tying woolly buggers at my kitchen table for about 4 months and figured I had it down, then my sister (who doesn't even fish) looked over my shoulder and said "those wraps look like a bird nest, are they supposed to be that lumpy?" I swallowed my pride, slowed way down, and started wrapping each turn tight against the last one instead of racing through it, and my flies actually sit flat on the water now instead of spinning. Anyone else get humbled by a total beginner pointing out something obvious in your hobby?
