The wiring diagram on a washer repair sticker taught me something
I was fixing my washing machine last weekend and noticed the wiring diagram on the inside panel. It showed a simple two-wire connection for the door switch that I always overthink on alarm panels. I snapped a photo and used the same logic to clean up a zone wiring mess on a job that same afternoon. Took maybe 10 minutes to redo 4 sensors after that. Has anyone else found a random diagram from another trade that helped your install work?

People really acting like finding one decent diagram is some kind of life changing revelation... it's just a drawing with some lines on it. @olivia398 I'm sure the HVAC diagram helped but let's not pretend a basic zone wiring cleanup is some huge breakthrough either. I've seen guys spend more time taking photos and talking about the diagram than it would have taken to just trace the wires and fix it the old way. There's a reason those diagrams are hidden inside the panel and not plastered all over the internet... nobody needs every random setup out there floating around. The car and phone schematics are totally different because those are standardized, not some hack job from a random installer. It's fine to take a tip here and there but the whole open source diagram thing sounds like people looking for a shortcut instead of just learning how to read a basic circuit.

Totally agree, found an HVAC diagram that saved me hours on a tricky sensor layout once.

Wow, it's wild how much a good diagram can just make everything click into place, isn't it? I actually just read a whole article about how a lot of engineers are pushing for more shared open-source diagrams for common setups like that. The writer was saying most of these problems are already solved, but the knowledge is just sitting on someone's hard drive instead of being easy to find online. It really makes you wonder how many hours people waste trying to reinvent the wheel on basic layout stuff. You can look up just about any old car or phone schematic, but try finding a clear HVAC sensor map from five years ago, it's a total mess. The hobbyist community is way better at sharing this kind of thing than the pros are, which is kind of backwards when you stop and think about it.
