Spent $400 on a wireless expander that made everything worse

Picked up one of those fancy wireless zone expanders back in March for a ranch house in El Paso. Thought it would save me from pulling cable through a nasty attic. Spent two full afternoons pairing sensors and fighting dropouts. The thing kept losing the motion detectors whenever the homeowner ran the microwave. Finally ripped it out and ran the wire like I should have done first. Has anyone else had luck with these things on bigger properties, or is wired still the way to go?
