Had to choose between a crawl space or a 30 foot ladder last Friday
I was finishing a job in this old house in Dayton, and the only spot left for the final motion sensor was at the peak of a vaulted ceiling. My options were to either crawl through a super tight attic space full of insulation for about 20 feet, or set up my big extension ladder in the living room. I went with the ladder, thinking it would be quicker. Big mistake. I got it all set up, climbed to the top, and the homeowner's cat decided the ladder was a new jungle gym. This little orange tabby started climbing up right behind me, meowing the whole time. I'm trying to hold the sensor, the drill, and not fall while this cat is batting at my tool belt. The homeowner just laughed from the kitchen and said, "Oh, he likes to help." I had to slowly climb down with the cat on my shoulder. Ended up doing the crawl space anyway after putting the cat in another room. Anyone else have a pet completely derail a simple install?

That cat just wanted to be part of the crew.

Gotta disagree, the ladder was the right call... a tight crawl space with insulation is a nightmare for dust and fiberglass. The cat was just bad luck. I would have shut the cat in a bedroom first, then gone back up the ladder. Crawling all that way seems like more work in the end.
