Ten years turning wrenches and I just learned my torque pattern was backwards
My lead walked by during a brake job in Dallas and said 'you're chasing the bolt around the wrong way' about my star pattern, sure enough the manual said start at 9 o'clock and go counter-clockwise, not clockwise like my old instructor drilled into me. Anyone else have a basic habit that was dead wrong for their whole career, or was it just my shop in Oklahoma?
Did your old instructor ever hear about the mix up? A buddy of mine had the same thing happen with head bolts, spent years going clockwise til a guy at a machine shop pointed at the manual and laughed at him. It happens more than people admit I bet.
