Showerthought: a new kid called my torque wrench 'old school' and I just stood there
He grabbed a digital one off the cart and asked why anyone still reads a needle, and all I could think about was the 20 years of click and feel that got me through, so now I'm wondering which habits you all still keep that the new guys think are pointless.
How do you trust a digital readout when the battery dies halfway through a head bolt sequence? At least with a beam or a click type you can feel the pull and know it's close, no screen needed. I've watched guys chase numbers on a display and miss the fact that the fastener already stopped moving, and that feel is half the job. The needle never lies to you, it just takes longer to learn.
