Update: my air fryer basket coating flaked off after 4 months and I think the nonstick hype is mostly a scam
Bought a mid-range 5.8 quart unit back in March and the coating on the basket started peeling near the corner welds by July. I only ever hand washed it with a soft sponge like the manual says, never ran it through the dishwasher. Everyone on here swears you just need to season it or wipe it with oil, but I'm staring at bare metal and flakes in my breakfast potatoes. Has anyone actually gotten a replacement basket covered under warranty, or did you just toss the thing and go back to a sheet pan?
Did you keep your receipt or order info from March? I ask because that's the whole ballgame with these warranty claims, and a lot of people don't realize the basket is usually a separate covered part from the heating unit. My sister had almost the exact same thing happen, flakes near the welds around month five, and she got a free replacement basket shipped after emailing a photo of the peeling plus her Amazon order number. Took like two weeks and she didn't even have to send the old one back. If you bought it with a card, your bank statement might work too if the receipt is long gone. It's worth a shot before you give up on the thing, because yeah, staring at bare metal in your potatoes is a real bummer.
