Why does nobody talk about AI making simple jobs harder?

In my experience, I let an AI tool plan a small data task for me last week. Your mileage may vary, but it gave me a long, complex method when a quick fix would work. Take this with a grain of salt, but I think some new AI stuff adds steps we don't need. It felt like using a rocket for a walk to the store. What's your take on this?

Stopped taking AI suggestions at face value after a similar mess. I had it help with a database cleanup, and it drafted a whole new system instead of a few delete commands. (Classic overkill, right?) So I asked a coworker who showed me the simple query. Now I use AI for rough drafts but always look for the shortest path first.

Think about why AI tools pick hard ways when easy ones exist. Your story shows the AI skipped the simple fix, which is a pain. Is it cause AI learns from big data without real world smarts? How do we make AI choose the simpler path?

Complex solutions can catch issues simple ones miss...
