Testing an AI that writes code from voice notes sparked a huge debate at my meetup
I shared how this tool let me describe a function and it wrote the code INSTANTLY. Some folks say it's a game-changer for accessibility and speed, while others worry it dumbs down real programming skills. We couldn't agree if this helps or hurts learning. How do you all see AI shaping future dev work?

Honestly, I lean more toward the tool side. It's just another tool, like a fancy compiler. If I'm stuck on a boring bit of syntax for a database connection, yeah, let the AI draft it. But for the actual tricky logic of how my app should work? That's still on me. I tried one for a quick prototype last week and it saved an hour of boilerplate, but then it totally messed up the core function. So we still have to know how to fix its mistakes. Does that mean we're just becoming editors instead of writers?

Sounds like the AI got promoted to intern while we're stuck being the senior dev cleaning up its mess. When did we start getting paid for tech support on autopilot code?

Ever feel like you're giving notes on a rough draft instead of writing the book? I mean, it saved you an hour on boilerplate but blew the core function. That's the thing. You still have to know the whole story to fix its weird plot holes. It's like having a helper who's great at fetching coffee but keeps putting salt in it instead of sugar. You still gotta taste everything.
