Picked a $40 dictation tool over a $400 one, zero regret
I was trying to clean up my workout notes and client follow-ups, so I compared two AI transcription apps for my phone. The pricey one had all these extra features like auto-summaries and mood tracking, but the cheap one just did speech to text fast and accurate. I went with the $40 option because I only needed raw text to paste into my notes app. Three weeks in, it handles my gym floor rambling perfectly, even with background music blasting. Anyone else find the basic version beats the fancy one for their actual use case?

Wait, so the $40 one does raw transcription only, like no timestamps or speaker labels? Cause if it does that plus handles gym background noise, then yeah, the fancy one was just selling you stuff you'd never touch.

Yeah did you end up grabbing it @the_viola? Cause I had a similar deal once and honestly the plain transcription was all I ever used, timestamps just sat there. Gym noise got picked up fine too, way less fuss than I expected.
