My sister's barista friend said my afternoon coffee was 'too weak', so I changed my ratio
Last month I posted a picture of my 3pm cup and her friend from a shop in Portland commented that I was basically drinking brown water. I was using about 15 grams of grounds for a 12 ounce mug, which felt normal to me. She told me to bump it to 22 grams and actually time the brew instead of guessing. The flavor difference is massive, like I was missing half the experience this whole time. Now I keep a little scale on my desk at work, and it takes 30 extra seconds. Has anyone else gotten a ratio tip that flipped their whole afternoon pick-me-up?

...and that's kind of how it goes with everything, right? Once someone shows you the little thing you've been skipping, you can't unsee it. I had the same thing with salt in cooking, always wondered why restaurant food tasted better, turns out I was barely using any. It's funny how we get set in our ways with a "good enough" version of something, and then one small change makes you realize you were just floating through it.
