Ending my workday with a 10 minute kitchen timer fixed my scroll hole

I kept telling myself I'd decompress after dinner, but I'd blink and it'd be 10 PM with nothing done for me, so I set a cheap kitchen timer for 10 minutes the second I walk in just to do one tiny wind-down task like stretching or making tea. It sounds dumb but that little countdown snaps my brain out of work mode way faster than an hour of doomscrolling ever did, anyone else tried a timer trick to force the switch?

Is that timer really what's snapping you out, or is it the physical act of getting up and moving your body to set it? Because honestly, the switch happens when you stand up and walk to the kitchen, not when the bell rings. I've found the timer works best if I use it right at the door, before I even sit down, so the change already started.
