Lamp I found on the curb at 1 AM exploded when I plugged it in
I was walking home from a late shift last Tuesday and saw this cool vintage lamp sitting by a trash can. It looked perfect for my living room so I carried it up three flights of stairs. Got it inside, plugged it in, and there was a loud pop and a flash of light. The whole bulb area just went dark and smelled like burnt plastic for an hour. Guess that's why someone threw it out. Has anyone else grabbed curb furniture that turned out to be straight up dangerous?

Wait, you carried it up three flights of stairs at 1 in the morning? That's dedication, but wow, what a letdown. I'd be so mad if I hauled a heavy lamp that far just for it to explode in my face.

Did you ever stop to think how much of our lives is just other people's failed experiments? That lamp probably sat in someones house for years, giving them good light, then one wire got loose and suddenly it's a fire hazard on the curb. So many things we grab for free are just someone else's near miss. Makes you wonder what other broken systems we're walking past every day without noticing, doesn't it?
