A cashier at the 24 hour gas station told me to check the sugar content on my energy drink and now I can't stop reading labels
I was at a Circle K off I-35 around 2am last week grabbing a Monster and the cashier, a guy maybe 60 years old, looked at my can and said "that's 54 grams of sugar, you know." I laughed it off but then I actually turned the can around and he was right. I sat in my truck in the parking lot and started reading every label on the stuff in my console, my protein bar was 27 grams, my "healthy" granola thing was 19. I ended up downloading a food scanner app right there and spent 40 minutes scanning things in my kitchen when I got home. Turns out half the stuff I thought was fine is just candy with a fitness label on it. I'm not saying I quit energy drinks, but I switched to the zero sugar ones and my 3pm crash has mostly gone away. Has anyone else gone down this rabbit hole after a random comment from a stranger?
