Puzzled by my afternoon tiredness after a good lunch
I eat balanced meals but still feel sleepy by mid-afternoon, any thoughts?

Check the carb content in your meals, especially refined sugars and white bread. They cause a quick energy spike followed by a crash that hits right around mid-afternoon. I used to eat a big sandwich for lunch and would be useless by 3 pm until I swapped in more protein and veggies. Now I focus on lean chicken or beans with a salad, and the steady energy keeps me alert.

My old lunch was two slices of sourdough with jam. The 3pm wall was so real I’d just stare at my screen. Switched to an apple with peanut butter and it’s a completely different day.
