Serious question, I always thought the old green sand was fine for our small castings.

My boss brought in a pallet of this new synthetic molding sand, said to try it on a run of 50 bronze fittings. The release was cleaner, way less crumbling on the edges. Anyone else made the switch and seen better surface finish?

Yeah that tracks, we had a similar thing happen. New stuff can be a pain to switch to but sometimes it just works better.

Eh, I've found the new stuff usually just adds more headaches. The old way was clunky but at least it was reliable.
