My niece thought my old stamp collection was just weird stickers

I was showing my 8-year-old niece, Lily, my old album of 1970s postage stamps, and she asked if they were just 'old-timey stickers' you couldn't use. I explained how people used to write letters and you had to pick the right stamp for where it was going, and her eyes got wide. She said, 'So it was like a tiny picture you mailed with your words?' That simple question made me want to actually write and mail a real letter, with a stamp, to someone. Has anyone else tried to get back into actual letter writing?

So who did you end up writing that first letter to?

Well, stamps are still used for packages too.

Jamesf41 has a point about packages, but that's just business mail. The whole personal letter thing feels like a forced hobby now. It's slower and costs money for no real benefit over a text. Why create extra steps when instant communication exists?
