Hot take: I thought those plastic post levelers were a total gimmick for years.

Honestly, I always set posts by eye and string line, thinking those little plastic brackets were a waste of cash. Then I did a big vinyl job in Gresham last month with over 80 posts, and my helper brought a pack. We tried them on the first five posts, and every single one was dead plumb in half the time. I was shocked. Ngl, I'm a convert now. Has anyone else had a tool they swore was useless that actually saved their butt on a job?

Same thing happened to me with a laser level, total game changer.

I get the laser level love, but for me it was the opposite. Bought one for a home project and it just felt like extra steps for simple stuff. My old bubble level and a straight edge never let me down. The laser kept needing a perfectly flat spot to sit, which my work area never had. Ended up going back to my trusty methods halfway through. Sometimes the simple way is just faster, you know?

Saw a contractor online saying they only break out the laser for big tile jobs or hanging cabinets. Makes sense to pick the right tool for the job, right?
