Appreciation post: My old way of labeling panel circuits was a mess

I used to scribble on tape with a marker, but after a confusing service call in Dayton last month, I switched to a Brady label maker. Anyone have a better system for keeping track of 3-phase feeds?

Ever see a guy mix up two phases because his tape labels had faded? Buddy of mine did that and fried a whole control board.

Honestly, that's on the company for using cheap tape that fades. Good workmanship means using permanent markers or proper engraved tags. If a label can't last a few years in a shop environment, it was the wrong choice from the start. Your buddy's mistake just showed a bigger system problem.

Seriously, just get the label maker. That scribbled tape stuff is asking for trouble down the line. Maybe it's just me, but I've seen too many close calls from faded or peeling labels. A proper label is cheap insurance against a really expensive mistake. It just takes one mix-up to ruin your whole day.
