Mistyped a deadline by 24 hours, ended up with the best client meeting of my life
So I had this open house brochure design due Friday at 5pm for a listing in Oak Park. I somehow read the email wrong and thought it was due Thursday. Crammed the whole thing at 11pm Wednesday night, sent it off, and woke up Thursday morning to a thanks but no rush email. Then the client saw it early and loved it so much they asked me to handle their other 3 properties. Now I'm wondering if I should just pretend every deadline is a day earlier than it actually is. Has anyone else accidentally outsmarted themselves like this?

Eh, I would pump the brakes on the whole "fake every deadline" idea. Getting lucky once doesn't mean it's a system, it just means the client happened to open your email early and was in a good mood. Do that on purpose and you're setting yourself up to rush everything, and rushed work usually looks rushed. Plus if a client ever figures out you're lying about due dates, that trust is gone fast. The real takeaway here is that you do good work when you actually sit down and focus, not that fake deadlines are some magic trick.
