Paid $85 for a diploma verification rush service, then the school emailed me the same day for free
I panicked about a job deadline last Tuesday and dropped $85 on one of those fast-track verification sites. The school's registrar actually replied within 4 hours with a free PDF, which the recruiter accepted like it was nothing. Has anyone else paid for this kind of help and then found out the official route was way quicker?

Wait, 85 bucks and the school got back to you in 4 hours? That is wild. I always figured the registrar takes like a week minimum, so the whole reason those rush sites even exist is because people think the school is slow. Guess the sites are just charging you to send the same email you could send yourself. That recruiter not even blinking at the PDF says it all.

Man come on, that 85 bucks bought something real though. Those rush sites have a person who knows exactly who to call and what to say, and they sit on hold for you and follow up when the office goes quiet. If you have ever tried emailing a registrar yourself during peak season you know it can vanish into a black hole for two weeks while your offer sits there. The reason the school moved in 4 hours is probably because the request came in looking official and clean, not like some random panicked student email. So yeah the recruiter didn't blink, but that is because the PDF did its one job, which is getting past the first screen. I still say paying a middleman is dumb for most people, but saying it is the same as doing it yourself is just not true, the whole game is who picks up the phone and when.
