Chat with a freelancer made me rethink my email automation

Was talking to a Shopify freelancer last week who said my welcome series was 'too polite' and lacked urgency. She showed me her client's abandoned cart email that used FOMO language and it boosted recovery by 30% in two weeks - anyone tweaked their email tone after a feedback like that?

Does it sting a bit at first when you realize your 'polite' emails are actually hurting sales? @the_jessica that's a great point about making a nudge without being pushy, I had to learn that same lesson the hard way.

Yeah I had a similar wakeup call last year. A customer told me my cart emails felt like I was apologizing for bothering them. I switched to shorter subject lines with words like "left something behind" and "your cart is getting lonely" and it honestly doubled our recovery rate within a few weeks. The trick was not being pushy but still making it feel like a real nudge instead of a polite reminder.

Push back on that FOMO stuff, polite emails actually build trust and keep customers coming back long term.
