got roasted by a guy at a comic con in Columbus over my layers and he was 100% correct
I've been messing around with digital painting for about a year now and thought I was getting decent. Last month I went to a small comic con in Columbus and stood next to an artist's table watching her work for like 20 minutes. She had maybe 4 layers open on a piece that I would have used 40 for, and her linework was all on one layer with the colors just painted underneath. I asked her about it and she said 'if you can't fix it with two layers you don't understand your own shapes yet,' which stung but stuck with me. Since then I've been doing these 30 minute studies with only 3 layers and my stuff looks less smudgy already after 2 weeks. Anyone else here had a random stranger at a con hand them a hard truth about their workflow?
