Shoutout to the 6.0 Power Stroke that ate a week of my life and taught me to check the FICM first
Last week a guy dropped off an 04 F-350 at the shop with a crank no start and I figured it was a quick one. Pulled codes, got a P0341 and a P2614, so I went after the cam sensor and the harness like a dummy. Two days, a new sensor, and a bunch of swearing later, still no start. Third morning I finally hooked up a scope to the FICM and the voltage was bouncing all over the place on the logic side. Sent it out for a rebuild, 48 hours later the truck fired on the first bump. What made it stand out was that I chased the wrong end of the problem for two whole days because I trusted the code over my own gut. The rust on that thing was bad too, every bolt fought me, and I dropped a 10mm in the frame rail twice. Anyone else get burned by a FICM that tested fine with a basic meter but was still junk under load?
