Shoutout to the self checkout line that made me pick the wrong lane at the grocery store
Last week at the Safeway on 5th I had to pick between the line with the old guy scanning slowly and the self checkout with 8 machines. I went self checkout since it looked faster, but 3 machines were out of order and the clerk had to come fix mine twice. Took me 12 minutes to buy milk and a bag of chips, and the slow line guy was already in the parking lot by then. Now I'm second guessing my whole system, so how do you all pick a line without standing there forever?
The self checkout at my Harris Teeter has 12 machines and only about 5 of them ever work right. I keep thinking I'm gaming the system and then I stand there like a fool waiting for the blinking red light while some guy with a full cart sails through the regular lane. Last time the screen froze on me mid banana and the poor clerk had to type in a code twice. Meanwhile the lady who got in line after me was already out the door loading her trunk. I still pick self checkout every time though, so maybe I'm just stubborn.
