The free book pile at the laundromat gave me a novel and a headache

I was waiting on my dry cycle at the Wash World on 5th street and spotted a cardboard box labeled 'take one, leave one'. Grabbed a thriller that looked decent, got home, and the last 40 pages were just blank paper. Someone clearly printed out a bootleg copy or something, and it cut off mid sentence. Has anyone else snagged junk from those community swap bins and ended up with a dud like this?
