Blew $300 on a habit tracker app in 2019 and tracked nothing but my own excuses
Back in 2019 I got all fired up after a coworker in Columbus showed me this tracking app with streaks and badges, so I paid for the full year plan at about $300 because it came with a coach and weekly check ins. What nobody warned me about was that the app wanted me to log every single thing, water, steps, reading, journaling, and after three weeks I was spending more time logging habits than doing them. The streak badges were fun for maybe 10 days, then I started fudging entries just so I would not lose a streak, which is a wild thing to do when you live alone and there is no one watching. I also bought a cheap paper planner to go with it, thinking a backup system would help, and that sat untouched on my kitchen counter past February. The kicker is the two habits I actually kept, drinking water and walking after dinner, I did fine with a note taped to my fridge and a free calendar on my phone. So I threw $300 at an app plus maybe $20 on a planner I never opened, and the fridge note is still winning. Did anyone else get sucked into paying for a tracker only to find a sticky note worked better, and how long did it take you to cancel the subscription?
